Jay Peter Success Story: 2 Years of Determination

at 11 pm

Jay’s story is one of triumph and perseverance. Despite facing significant cognitive impairments as a result of an acquired brain injury, Jay has made remarkable progress in the last 2 years since joining Sublime Care. Tristan, Jay’s Support Worker, shares Jay’s inspiring journey with us.

“Jay came into our group not long after I started,” Tristan says, “and presented with significant cognitive impairment that impacted his ability to manage routine daily tasks such as making a meal or personal care.”

However, in just two years, Jay has become self-sufficient, able to shower, cook, and even catch the bus on his own. Tristan has been assisting Jay with his grocery shopping to help him become more independent. “Jay is killing it!,” Tristan said.

One of the biggest factors Tristan has observed in Jay’s transformation is his confidence, which continues to grow each day. “I can see it in the way he walks and talks,” Tristan shares. “Jay was really quiet when he arrived, but now his conversation is full of positivity and humor.”

Jay has been actively working on his rehabilitation by attending “Head Start” courses and participating in community outings, which he loves. Tristan and Jay also enjoy spending time together, playing tenpin bowling, and hanging out at the beach.

Last year, Jay accomplished a major milestone by obtaining his car license, which Tristan says was a moment filled with joy. “To see him so happy made me feel really good,” Tristan reflects. “Milestones like this really put life in perspective.”

Jay’s next goal is to buy a car, a goal that Tristan is confident he will achieve. Soon, Jay will be cruising around Newie in his own car, fully independent and enjoying life to the fullest.

“Jay said he wouldn’t be where he is today without Sublime Care,” Tristan shares, “and I have to agree. He’s come so far and continues to make progress every day. Jay, well done! I love working with you, mate. Keep up the awesome work and don’t stop progressing, as the sky is limitless.”
