Rebecca Stackman’s Remarkable Journey: A Story of Courage and Hope

at 4 am

At Sublime Care, we witness many courageous journeys, but Rebecca Stackman’s story truly stands out for its strength. When we met Rebecca on February 8, she greeted us with warmth, positivity, and clear personal goals. She set a goal to use a slide board independently, showing physical strength and unwavering determination.

Over the past months, Rebecca has faced every challenge with a smile, strong perseverance, and unwavering hope. Her journey continues to inspire everyone who supports and walks alongside her each day. On August 23, during physiotherapy at Neuro Alliance, Rebecca achieved an extraordinary milestone through sheer determination. Using the Lyra machine for gait therapy, she walked 700 meters in 25 minutes, taking 1,273 steps. As she finished, supporters watched in awe before erupting into cheers that celebrated her remarkable progress. Though exhausted, Rebecca’s eyes sparkled with pride, creating a powerful moment we will always remember.

But Rebecca didn’t stop there. With her unwavering spirit, she moved to the floor area and was hooked up into a sling hoist for floor walking. Despite the challenges, she walked five laps, each step a testament to her strength and determination. Her support worker, Anikka, couldn’t help but be moved by the progress: “Comparing to last week, there has been a huge difference in results. Bec absolutely smashed her physio sessions last week, but this week she was incredible! Go Bec! We are eager to see her results and compare performances at the end of the program.”

In addition to her incredible physiotherapy milestones, Rebecca has been setting her sights on new goals. She has expressed a desire to re-engage with the community and pursue her passion for gardening again. Now, as she continues her rehabilitation, Rebecca is excited to step back into nature, tending to her plants and reconnecting with the outdoors—a goal that aligns perfectly with her drive to regain her independence.

Rebecca’s story is more than just a series of achievements; it’s a story of resilience, hope, and the belief that with enough determination, anything is possible. She has inspired not just our team, but everyone who has had the privilege of witnessing her journey. We are incredibly proud of Rebecca and feel honored to be a part of her story. Her journey is a reminder that even in the face of challenges, there is always hope, and there is always a way forward.
