Rebecca Stackman’s Remarkable Journey: A Story of Courage and Hope

at 4 am

At Sublime Care, we often witness stories of incredible courage and determination, but Rebecca Stackman’s journey holds a special place in our hearts. When we first met Rebecca on the 8th of February, her warmth and positivity shone through, even as she shared her personal goals with us. One of those goals was to use a slide board for her transfers—a task that requires not just physical strength but unwavering resolve.

Over the past months, Rebecca has faced each challenge with a smile, a spirit of perseverance, and a heart full of hope. Her journey has been nothing short of inspiring. On the 23rd of August, during a physiotherapy session at Neuro Alliance, Rebecca achieved something extraordinary. Hooked up to the Lyra machine for gait lab therapy, she walked an astounding 700 meters in 25 minutes, taking 1,273 steps. As she finished, the room was filled with a quiet awe, followed by cheers. Rebecca was visibly tired, but her eyes sparkled with pride—a moment we will all cherish.

But Rebecca didn’t stop there. With her unwavering spirit, she moved to the floor area and was hooked up into a sling hoist for floor walking. Despite the challenges, she walked five laps, each step a testament to her strength and determination. Her support worker, Anikka, couldn’t help but be moved by the progress: “Comparing to last week, there has been a huge difference in results. Bec absolutely smashed her physio sessions last week, but this week she was incredible! Go Bec! We are eager to see her results and compare performances at the end of the program.”

In addition to her incredible physiotherapy milestones, Rebecca has been setting her sights on new goals. She has expressed a desire to re-engage with the community and pursue her passion for gardening again. Now, as she continues her rehabilitation, Rebecca is excited to step back into nature, tending to her plants and reconnecting with the outdoors—a goal that aligns perfectly with her drive to regain her independence.

Rebecca’s story is more than just a series of achievements; it’s a story of resilience, hope, and the belief that with enough determination, anything is possible. She has inspired not just our team, but everyone who has had the privilege of witnessing her journey. We are incredibly proud of Rebecca and feel honored to be a part of her story. Her journey is a reminder that even in the face of challenges, there is always hope, and there is always a way forward.
