at 2 am

Melissa was ready to leave her unit when Darren arrived, eagerly awaiting the start of her much-anticipated trip. With a beaming smile, she expressed her pride in having saved diligently to make this adventure possible.

Setting off in the car, Mel traveled smoothly, engaging Darren in lively conversations along the way. They made a pit stop at Batemans Bay, where they indulged in a McDonald’s lunch, refueling for the rest of their journey.

Upon reaching the Bega caravan park, they temporarily left their bags at the cabin and ventured into the main street. Mel’s face lit up as she spotted a plant with delicate white flowers, and without hesitation, she decided to make it her own.

One poignant stop on their itinerary was the cemetery, where Mel paid her respects to her late father. With reverence, she carefully tidied up her father’s headstone and tenderly placed the potted plant beside it. Taking a moment to reflect on cherished memories, Mel honored her father’s memory with a heartfelt pause.

Next, they visited Mel’s old primary school, a nostalgic trip down memory lane. As she walked through the hallways, memories flooded back, evoking a sense of nostalgia and pride.

The journey continued to the renowned Bega cheese factory, where the staff indulged in creamy ice cream treats. The flavors danced on Mel’s taste buds, adding a delightful touch to her unforgettable trip.

Driven by curiosity and fond childhood memories, Mel and Darren made their way to Tarthra beach and wharf. The tranquil atmosphere and shimmering waves brought back images of joyful fishing trips Mel had once enjoyed with her family.

In search of a cosy eatery, they discovered that most places were closed, leaving them no choice but to satisfy their hunger at a nearby KFC. Despite the unexpected dining experience, Mel maintained her positive spirit, making the most of the situation.

After a restful night’s sleep, Mel and Darren commenced their journey back to Blacktown, taking a scenic route via Cooma and Canberra. They stopped in Cooma for a delicious breakfast, fueling up for the rest of the trip. Mel couldn’t resist picking up some delectable cakes from Goulburn to share with her friends upon returning to Blacktown. Melissa’s trip showcased her determination and resourcefulness, proving that with hard work and perseverance, dreams can become a reality. She returned home with a heart filled with pride, having accomplished a journey she had saved for and experienced independently
